Below are the museum’s hours during the during the 8th World Bonsai Convention and the Great Bonsai Festival

■Museum Hours

April 26th (Wed): Closed for the day April 27th (Thu) ~ April 30 (Sun): The museum will be opened until 6:00 pm for special extended hours. (The opening time will remain at 9:00 am).

■Admission Price

Individuals registered with the World Bonsai Convention: Free (no limit on the number of time admitted) Tickets for the World Bonsai Convention Japan Bonsai Suiseki SHIHO-TEN: Discounted Price (Group discount price, one time only)

■ Treasure of the Bonsai World- Japanese Five Needle Pine named Higurashi Exhibition

The Japanese five needle pine named Higurashi will be on exhibit for the first time in nearly 6 years.

Exhibition Period

Great Bonsai Festival: May 3th (Wed/Public Holiday) ~ May 5th (Fri/ Publich Holiday)

The museum is holding a commemorative special exhibition in commemoration of the 8th World Bonsai Convention titled- BONSAI: World-wide Brand from Saitama

■Exhibition of bonsai belonging to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe- Japanese Five Needle Pine named Wa-no-mai

The museum will exhibit the Japanese five needle pine presented to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in commemoration of both his support of Saitama City’s bid to host the 8th World Bonsai Convention and Saitama City’s selection as a venue for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Come and view this bonsai together with Karin, the famed bonsai from the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum’s collection once cherished by Nobusuke Kishi, former Prime Minister and Shinzo Abe’s grandfather.

■Bonsai Café on the Terrace With the cooperation of local merchants association, we will offer light meals on the museums’ terrace.

We hope to provide a nice place to rest.

■ Exhibition of Saitama City Elementary School Students’ Bonsai

We will exhibit around 250 created and grown by Saitama City’s elementary school students in preparation for the World Bonsai Convention. Students made these bonsai during Saturday Challenge School and other times at school.

Day and Time: April 27th (Thu) ~ April 30th (Sun) from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Place: Lecture Room

Participating Schools: Miyamae Elementary School, Sakae Elementary School, Kishicho Elementary School, Tsujiminami Elementary School, Yada Elementary School, Omaki Elementary School, Jonan Elementary School, Jionji Elementary School

■Special Golden Week Bonsai Demonstration We will hold a special demonstrations and explanations by bonsai artists.

Time and date: May 3rd (Wed/Public Holiday) to May 5th (Fri/Public Holiday) from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm each day.

Place: Lecture Room

Number of seats available: 30 people (seating is free)

※Places are on a first come basis, come to the Lecture Room at the given time.

■Special Gallery Tour We will hold special gallery tours on bonsai appreciation given by our museum guide.

Time and date: April 27th (Thu) ~ April 30th (Sun) May 3rd (Wed/Public Holiday) to May 5th (Fri/Public Holiday) at 11:00 am, 1:30 pm, and 3:00 pm, each day.

Place: Collection Gallery, Bonsai Garden, and other places in the museum

Number of spots available: 20 people for each tour

※ Together with your admission ticket to the museum, gather in the museum lobby at the designated time.

※ Notice: there will only be two tours give on April 30th (Sun) at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm.

■ Making Leaf Stamp Cards Workshop

Make your own original card using maple and other leaves. Wouldn’t it make a great memory of your visit to our museum?

Date and time: May 4th and 5th (Thu-Fri/Public Holidays) from 10:00 to 12:00 each day    ※ During the stamp making activity you can join at any time.

Place: Lecture Room

Number of spots: 100 people each day (First come)

※If you would like participate come to the lecture room on the given date and time.

※Anyone from children to adults can participate.

■ Bonsai Salon This is a screening party for panels explaining the highlights of bonsai and pictures recording the history of the Omiya Bonsai Village.

Date and time: May 3rd (Wed/Public Holiday) ~ May 5th (Fri/Public Holiday) from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm each day.
