The Omiya Bonsai Village, the Bonsai Paradise that came from a Musashino pine forest.

One hundred years ago, Tokyo bonsai gardeners affected by the Great Kanto Earthquake sought a new home. In their search, they cultivated a pine forest on the Musashino plateau, giving birth to the Omiya Bonsai Village.

The first resident of the village, Shimizu Ritarō of Seidai-en, began to live here in April 1925.

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Omiya Bonsai Village, our special exhibition for 2025 will look back on the history of the village.

In addition to visual materials such as maps, tourist pamphlets, and old photographs, our exhibition room will display materials that tell the story of the Bonsai Gardens, which helped to found and develop the Bonsai Village.

In our lobby and gallery, we will borrow bonsai from the gardens in the Bonsai Village, showcasing the traits of each garden.
We also plan to screen archive footage of the Bonsai Village and the people who worked to develop it in the past.
