World Bonsai Day 2026 Celebration – Special Exhibition of Satsuki Azalea Bonsai

To celebrate World Bonsai Day 2026 on Saturday, May 9, the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum, in cooperation with the Nippon Bonsai Association, the Japanese regional representative of the World Bonsai Friendship Federation, will hold a special exhibition of satsuki azalea bonsai in full bloom in the Museum Lobby.
Please join us at the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum to celebrate this day to deepen the friendship amongst bonsai lovers all around the world.


What is the World Bonsai Friendship Federation?
The World Bonsai Friendship Federation is an international organization of bonsai masters and enthusiasts established in 1989 during the first “World Bonsai Convention” held in Omiya City (now Saitama City). It is composed of organizations representing nine member regions around the world. The Nippon Bonsai Association is the representative organization for the Japan region.

What is World Bonsai Day?
The World Bonsai Day is a bonsai anniversary designated by the World Bonsai Friendship Federation and falls on the second Saturday of May every year in honor of the birthday of the late Saburo Kato, the third-generation owner of Mansei-en Bonsai Garden in the Omiya Bonsai Village, who devoted himself to the internationalization of bonsai.
