Place:Collection Gallery

This art exhibition is part of the collaborative project with the “Saitama Triennale 2020,” which was postponed.

The participating artists are Yoshihiro Suda and Mai Miyake. Suda is known for his detailed and realistic wood carvings of flowers and plants, and Miyake is known for the mixture of traditional Japanese and modern art techniques portrayed in her pieces. The highlights of the exhibition are the collaboration of works by these two artists and our museum’s bonsai works.

What’s “World Bonsai Day”?
World Bonsai Day occurs each year on the 2nd Saturday of May. In 2021, this is May 8th.
It celebrates the legacy of bonsai master Saburo Kato (1915-2008), who have contributed to the internationalization of bonsai. Mr. Kato was the third-generation owner of “Mansei-en,” located in Omiya Bonsai Village in Saitama City and one of the most famous bonsai nurseries in the world.
