The winding trunk, which undulates as it rises up the root to embrace the dead whitewood, or shari, expresses an overwhelming sense of movement to the viewer. As of a tree which was raised to withstand severe wind and snow, this bonsai boasts a beautiful shape only possible with Japanese juniper.
