- Tree Kind:
- Shimpaku (Japanese Juniper)
- Scientific name:
- Juniperus chinensis var. sargentii
- D:88cm x W:88cm x H:100cm
The Japanese juniper grows wild on cliff faces and aside from being called shinpaku in Japanese, they are also called Miyama byakushin. A highlight of this bonsai is the dynamic figure formed by the trunk, which through its many years has turned mostly into shari, dead white wood. From the base of the trunk to the tips of the branches a complex union of brown and white shows through.
