With five trunks standing upright, this bonsai gives the viewer a refreshing feeling. The name of this breed of Japanese maple, deshōjō, means "deep red" and was given to the breed because of the deep red leaves it bears from early spring. As fall deepens, the foliage turns red again, meaning that one can enjoy the scarlet form of this variety of maple twice every year.
