The Yezo Pine was collected from the islands of Kurile and Kunashiri in Hokkaido and from there were spread during the Showa period (1926-1989). With its characteristic bark, and small and thin, deep green foliage, the Yezo pine is distinguishable from all other pines making it very attractive. These attractive trees of varying sizes have been grown in the yoseue style which places multiple trees of together. The overall effect produces the feel of a broad swath of land on this stone base. This large bonsai, which measures over 1.8 meters from side to side calls to mind a pine forest.
