The foliage at the top of this upright zelkova tree has been tailored to radiate out in a bonsai style called hōki-zukuri, also called “broom style”. This artificial style of bonsai is often seen in zelkova trees. A sense of stability is created from its sprawling roots and thick trunk. This robust feel, combined with its dense leaves, gives off the feel of a large tree.
