Yae-kankōbai is a variety of Japanese apricot popular since the Edo period (1603-1868). This variety blooms earlier than most apricots, showing off its deep red flowers by mid-February. Rare among apricot trees, this bonsai is in the kabudachi style, where multiple trunks rise together from a risen root. As it grows redder, this piece is perfect to greet the spring with.
