This variety of Japanese camellia, named eiraku, is known for its dark, crimson red flowers. While these flowers will bloom from the start of March, the petals do not fully open, giving them a unique shape. In Japanese, this is known as tsutsuzaki, or “tubular flowers”. This piece has been carefully taken care of for around 40 years to create its unique twisting trunk, which captures the intrigue of the viewer. The eiraku camellia lets off a gentle aura from its relaxed curves and smooth white trunk.
