This celadon pot is characterized by its translucent turquoise glaze. Its steeply cut sides accentuate its elegant form. Covering all four sides of the body are cotton rose arabesque reliefs rendered through incised carving. Note that “incised carving” refers to a technique in Chinese ceramics called kèhuā where patterns are deeply carved to make them appear raised.
