This celadon pot stands out through its turquoise glaze, which possesses a sense of transparency. Each of its steep sides helps to emphasize its well-shaped form. Cotton rose arabesque relief designs have been carved into all four of its faces. This was done by a traditional Chinese pottery technique called kèhuā, in which the potter carves deeply into the piece to strongly emboss a pattern.
