This shidei clay pot features paintings of birds and flowers around its body. Each of the faces has been painted with a different design. The front features a phoenix, drawn with simple strokes reminiscent of a folk painting, which has landed onto a large Confederate rose, a white magnolia, and a taihu stone. The phoenix has been said since ancient times to be an auspicious bird that appears at the arrival of wise men of virtue.
