This earthen bonsai pot was made with soil containing very little iron. After firing this leaves the pot colored white with a yellowish tint. For these reasons, the pot is called hakudei, or white mud. The surface of the fine clay has a beautiful charm to it. On the front of the pot is a relief of a bird perched on a Japanese apricot branch while an orchid adorns the back. On the bottom of the pot the name Xu Zhengfu is inscribed.
