White clay pots, or “hakudei,” turn slightly yellowish white when fired because of the low iron content in the clay. Its body features finely raised clay depicting grass resembling green foxtails and a grasshopper that has jumped onto it. Similarly, the back is decorated with autumn grasses and a cricket.
