The highlights of this piece are the drawings of children having fun on each side of this hexagonal bonsai pot. This motif of Chinese children playing is known as Karako, a word formed of the Chinese characters for the Tang Dynasty and child. These children, playing in a peaceful world, are a symbol of good fortune. With plenty of open white space, the drawings are skillfully framed in blue and green in this unsigned work.
