This large pot, said to be Tokoname ware from Aichi Prefecture, is adorned with vivid colors. Its body is composed of eight panels, alternately depicting two motifs—a pavilion and landscape scene and a floral and bird scene—using overglaze enamels in red, yellow, blue, and green. The foot of this piece, featuring a lion-like design, is called a jūsoku, meaning beast foot.
