It is a small bowl showing a neat molding made by Heian Kōzan (1905-1990), a famous craftsman from Kyoto. This work uses the embossing technique on the front of the torso to show a design of a peony and a lion playing. A thick glaze layer has been draped over it. This design is typical of Kōzan. There are also milky blue and yellow glazed parts in the pot. We hope you enjoy the charm in the design of the blooming peony and the lion in rapture.
