With lines running the width of this high standing yet uneven stone there is a sense of strength and massiveness that can be felt by the viewer. Because the stone set standing looks like the figure of a brawny man, it was given the title Kongo, the name of a fierce guardian god placed at temple gates. Suiseki stones such as this, that are thought to have the appearance of animals or deities have a special name: sugataishi.
