In this piece, women are having a party next to an apricot (plum) tree by a large pond in what seems to be a samurai’s residence. They have set up a tatami mat for this. Seven gorgeously designed plant pots have been placed behind them on two shelves, almost as if to decorate the scene.
Placed on the top shelf are an apricot tree in a rectangular pot with a wave design, a tree bearing red fruit which seems like a coral bush in a rounded pot with a cracked ice pattern, and another apricot inside a round pot with a flower crest design. On the bottom shelf one can see a pheasant’s eye inside of a round pot with an interlocking swastika design.
