A piece based on the kabuki play Hachiman Matsuri Yomiya no Nigiwai. The morning glory blooming with blue and grey flowers is inside an unglazed pot by the window. The sacred lily next to it is placed inside a blue and white pot. Both of these plants became popular in the latter half of the Edo period (18th-19th century).
