The gosekku are five days throughout the year on which annual events are held to mark the changing of the seasons.
The Jōshi no Sekku is held on March 3 of the lunar calendar. It is also sometimes called the Peach Festival. This print depicts Ichikawa Danjuro VII, a kabuki actor who was very popular with women, standing next to a number of beautifully blooming primroses placed on a carrier.
