The term joreishiki means female etiquette, and here refers to those arts and the interests ladies were expected to develop in 19th-century Japan. In this picture, you can see women practicing their etiquette through needlework and by ironing a kimono with a small coal-filled pan. In the far-right background, a pine bonsai grown in the rock grown style can be seen.
