The term joreishiki means female etiquette, and here refers to those tastes ladies were expected to develop in 19th century Japan. In this picture, you can see women practicing their etiquette through needle work and by ironing a kimono with a small coal filled pan. In the far-right background, a pine bonsai grown in the root-over-rock style can be seen.
