This is a painting depicting a joreishiki, a popular kind of gathering or group for women to learn etiquette in the Meiji period. In the foreground of this image, well-dressed women are making tea, writing calligraphy. In the background, we can see various plants, such as one depicted as a traditional ikebana flower arrangement, some bundled together into a basket, and an apricot placed in a cornered pot.
