This setting is that of temporary housing set up after the great fire that destroyed many buildings in the Yoshihara red light district found along the Sumidagawa River. Across the river, one can just make out the gate of the Mimeguri Shrine, a famous spot in Edo times. While the full moon seems to hang in the night sky it lights a potted bush clover plant sitting on the window sill.
