The first edition of this pictorial of plants was published in 1829, then republished in 1880. The many-colored flowers shown here are some of the over 1000 varieties pictured in this work, all of which were cherished by the people of the Edo period. On the left page, we can see a rabbit-ear iris, which blooms with purple flowers in early summer. In the center, there is a Japanese spatterdock, and on the right, there is a common cattail.
